Super Eagles star Ibrahim Olawoyin played a key role in Çaykur Rizespor’s dominant 3-0 victory over Kayserispor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Sunday by grabbing an assist.
Olawoyin’s assist for the opening goal was his second of the season, helping his team grab yet another important three points, Footballrover reports.
Rizespor took the lead just before the break when Olawoyin provided a precise assist for Emrecan Bulut to score with only minutes remaining in the first half.
The match took a decisive turn in the 73rd minute, when Ali Sowe doubled the lead, making it 2-0.
Olawoyin’s impact on Rizespor’s midfield
Kayserispor’s challenge worsened after Stéphane Bahoken was sent off for a second yellow card, giving Rizespor the advantage.
Capitalising on their numerical superiority, Rizespor sealed the win when Sowe netted his second goal to secure the commanding 3-0 scoreline.
Olawoyin’s performance continued to impress, as he now boasts one goal and two assists for the season.
Olawoyin was instrumental throughout the match, contributing both offensively and defensively.
He registered 51 touches, completed 25 of 30 passes with an 83% accuracy rate, and created two key passes.
His creativity was also obvious after pulling off the assist for Bulut’s goal, showing he still got that great vision.
In addition to his attacking contributions, Olawoyin displayed resilience in duels, winning seven of 21 ground challenges and three of four aerial duels.
His defensive work, including one clearance, one interception, and three successful tackles, was also commendable.
This victory lifts Rizespor to eighth place in the Süper Lig, with 19 points from 13 games, as Olawoyin continues to shine in midfield.
“Thanks mates for the birthday present of 3 points, 3 goals. We keep moving,” the midfielder wrote on his social media page.
