In Saturday’s Premier League encounter, Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi registered yet another goal as Wolves secured a narrow 2-1 victory against Fulham at the Molineux Stadium.Alex Iwobi

Despite a late surge from Fulham, highlighted by Alex Iwobi’s impressive goal, it wasn’t enough to overcome the determined Wolves, Footballrover reports.

The game started with both sides locked in a tense battle, resulting in a goalless first half.

However, the deadlock was broken in the 52nd minute when Rayan Ait-Nouri capitalised on a cutback from a free kick to put the Wolves ahead.

Wolves doubled their lead in the 67th minute through a deflected own goal from Fulham’s Tom Cairney, courtesy of a shot by Nelson Semedo from just outside the area.

Despite the setback, Fulham showed resilience, with Iwobi managing to pull one back deep into stoppage time.

The midfielder’s goal, his fifth in the Premier League this season, provided a late consolation for Fulham, despite providing seven scoring chances in the game.

Calvin Bassey, who also featured for Fulham, put in a commendable performance alongside Iwobi.Alex Iwobi's Late Strike Not Enough as Fulham Fall to Wolves

However, Fulham’s efforts weren’t enough to alter the final outcome, as Wolves held on to claim all three points.

The victory propelled the Wolves to eighth place in the league standings, keeping their hopes alive for European football next season.

On the other hand, the defeat left Fulham in 12th place, with manager Marco Silva expressing disappointment at his side’s slow start to the second half.

Despite Silva’s pre-match instructions to play a fast-paced game, Fulham couldn’t overturn their fortunes at Molineux, where they haven’t won since 1985.

Fulham will look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures against Tottenham, aiming to secure vital points in their quest for a successful campaign.
