Speaking after the game, the midfielder credited Fulham’s structured pressing strategy as the key reason for his goals against Brighton.
He explained that the team anticipated Brighton’s style of playing out from the back and set up to take advantage of any mistakes.
“Yeah, I mean, the first one, we know Brighton had to play out from the back. So we had, like, a structure to try and press them. Obviously, at times, everyone makes a mistake. So I was able to capitalise on the mistake.
“And then the second goal, I mean, I felt like I was fighting for my dear life trying to get the ball off one of the players. Then when I got a bit of space and time, I tried to keep myself composed and hit the target. There was a little deflection, but they all count as long as they go in; I don’t mind,” the Super Eagles midfielder told the club website.
Fulham now face a daunting run of fixtures against Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea, and they will rely on Iwobi’s form to navigate these challenges successfully.
