The Nigerian duo of Godwin Aguda and Ifedayo Olusegun were in good form over the weekend, registering goals to their name, but their teams experienced mixed fortunes.
While Aguda found the back of the net for Falkenbergs in their narrow 2-3 home defeat to Ljungskile in the Swedish league, Olusegun came off the bench to score the decisive winner in PDRM’s 1-0 victory over Sabah in the Malaysia Super League, Footballrover reports.
Despite their individual brilliance, only one walked away with all three points.
Aguda Shines Despite Falkenbergs’ Collapse
The match at the Falcon Non-Alcoholic Arena started well for Falkenbergs, with Tilly opening the scoring just 19 minutes into the game.
Aguda then doubled the lead, putting the hosts in a comfortable position.
However, the second half saw a dramatic shift, as the visitors mounted a comeback.
Goals from Shears, Ambrož, and Helm turned the game on its head, handing Falkenbergs a narrow defeat.
Despite the loss, Falkenbergs still sit atop the Division 1 Group B table with 52 points—six points clear of second-placed Lunds, who suffered a 3-1 defeat.
Falkenbergs will now head to Edsborgs Idrottsplats to face Trollhättan in Ettan Fotboll on Friday.
Olusegun’s Late Winner Lifts PDRM
Meanwhile, Olusegun had a different outcome in Malaysia’s Super League, where his late-game heroics secured a crucial win.
With the game tied and both teams struggling to break the deadlock, Olusegun came off the bench to score an 80th-minute winner, ensuring his team walked away with all three points.
That victory moved his team up to 6th place in the 13-team table, now sitting on 14 points. PDRM will face Terengganu next, also on Friday.
