Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi delivered another outstanding performance, scoring to inspire Fulham to a hard-earned home victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s Premier League clash.
Iwobi netted his side’s second goal of the match, which ultimately proved decisive as Fulham secured a 2-1 win over Spurs at Craven Cottage, Footballrover reports.
Alex Iwobi Shines in Fulham vs The North Londoners
The 29-year-old midfielder created a match-high four chances and capped his display with his fourth league goal of the season, bringing his total goal contributions to seven, alongside three assists.
Iwobi has now scored in back-to-back matches for the Cottagers, following his goal and assist in the 3-1 victory over Sunderland in their previous outing.
While Iwobi grabbed the headlines, compatriot Calvin Bassey also impressed with a solid defensive performance, and Samuel Chukwueze featured as a late substitute in Fulham’s home triumph.
Spurs slipped deeper into trouble after a loss, matching an unwanted club record of 10 straight Premier League matches without victory.
The defeat piled further pressure on interim boss Igor Tudor, whose side had already been thrashed 4-1 by Arsenal in his first game in charge.
The hosts struck early when Harry Wilson volleyed home after a deflected pass fell kindly in the box.
Spurs Struggles Continue as The Cottagers Complete League Double
VAR upheld the goal despite Spurs’ protests over a possible foul in the buildup.
The hosts doubled their lead before halftime through Iwobi, who combined neatly with Wilson before curling a precise effort in off the far post, extending Spurs’ alarming run of conceding at least twice in eight consecutive league games.
After the break, the Cottagers threatened again through Emile Smith Rowe, but Spurs briefly rallied. Substitute Richarlison headed in from close range to spark hope.
However, the comeback never materialised, leaving Spurs just four points above the relegation zone, while Fulham’s league double lifted them to ninth.
