From goal contributions in Turkey and Croatia to dramatic moments in the English Premier League, Nigerian players abroad keep proving their quality on the international stage, Footballrover reports.

While some enjoyed a match-winning display, others faced dramatic twists of fate, showing the unpredictable beauty of football competition.

Ibrahim Olawoyin Delivers in Turkey for Rizespor

Ibrahim Olawoyin delivered a stunning performance, providing an assist as Rizespor thrashed Kasimpasa 3-0 in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday.

It was the 28-year-old Nigerian midfielder’s first assist after 17 appearances in the top flight this season. He has also scored one goal.

Also on target for Rizespor in the Round 24 clash at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadium was Scottish-born Nigerian winger Adedire Mebude.

Olawoyin set up Mebude to make it 3-0 for Rizespor with 10 minutes left on the clock.

The win moved Rizespor up to 10th position on 27 points in the league table.

Akere Shows Super-Sub Quality in Croatia

Samuel Akere had a fantastic outing in the HNL as he found the back of the net to inspire his team, NK Osijek, to a well-deserved victory over Vukovar 91.

Akere came off the bench to score the second goal of the encounter, and it came late in the game as Osijek defeated their visitors 2-0 at Opus Arena.

Matchday 24 of the Croatian HNL saw the Nigerian forward enter the game in the 65th minute, replacing Nail Omerović, and he made his impact just 32 minutes after stepping onto the pitch.

After a cagey first half, the hosts finally broke the deadlock 12 minutes after the restart. Arnel Jakupović converted a penalty to put them in front.

Akere then wrapped up the game seven minutes into added time to seal the win and secure three points that moved the team to 9th place on the table with 20 points.

Akere now has two goals in six appearances since his loan move to the club.

Kayode Faces EPL Drama but Shows Attacking Instinct

It was a rough day at the office for Nigerian defender Michael Kayode, whose afternoon was overshadowed by a gut-wrenching own goal in the English Premier League.

Despite his early contribution — a trademark long throw that caused chaos and led to Kevin Schade making it 3-0 for Brentford — Kayode inadvertently sparked a Burnley comeback by turning Jaidon Anthony’s cross into his own net just before halftime.

Burnley eventually erased the three-goal deficit to level the score at 3-3, even seeing a potential winner ruled out by VAR.

However, the Bees regained the lead through Mikkel Damsgaard in the 93rd minute.

Although a late Ashley Barnes strike was disallowed for handball, Kayode’s side survived the thrilling 4-3 contest to secure a vital third consecutive away win.
