Abdulrahman Taiwo continued his red-hot form in front of goal, firing a brilliant hat-trick to lead Spartak Trnava to a commanding 4–0 win over AS Trenčín in the Niké Liga.
The Nigerian striker’s dominant display at the Štadión Antona Malatinského not only sealed back-to-back victories for his side but also saw him snatch headlines in Slovakia’s top flight, Footballrover reports.
Abdulrahman Taiwo Leads Spartak Trnava’s Ruthless Charge
It took Taiwo barely two minutes to announce his intentions. The in-form forward pounced inside the box to open the scoring after sharp movement left the Trenčín defenders flat-footed.
Just twelve minutes later, Spartak doubled their lead when a dangerous Procházka free kick forced an own goal off Fedor Kasan’s head, putting the hosts in full control early on.
In the second half, Taiwo turned the game into his personal showcase. His second came in the 53rd minute after a quick counterattack led by Hilary Gong, another Nigerian standout who delivered a perfectly timed assist.
Taiwo met the pass with a low strike that beat goalkeeper Húdok at the near post.
The 66th minute brought his third — a close-range header to complete a stunning hat-trick.
The home crowd roared as the 25-year-old forward celebrated his fifth goal in five matches.
Nigerian Trio Shine Bright in Slovakia
It wasn’t just Taiwo stealing the spotlight. His compatriot Hilary Gong — once a player for Trenčín — provided an assist and continued his solid form with one goal and two assists this season.
Another former Trenčín star, Philip Azango, also impressed after coming on in the 68th minute to replace Timotej Kudicka, linking well in attack during his cameo.
Despite Taiwo being substituted in the 77th minute for Luka Khorkheli, his job was well done.
The comprehensive win lifted Spartak Trnava to fourth on the Niké Liga table, while Trenčín’s poor run extended to seven games without a win since late August.
After the match, Trenčín coach Ricardo Moniz admitted admiration for the Nigerian talents who once graced his team.
“We lacked the quality of offensive players like Spartak has in Gong or Azango, who passed through Trenčín,” Moniz said.
