Nigerian midfielder Jennifer Echegini made a strong statement on her return from injury, delivering an assist to help Paris Saint-Germain seal a convincing 2–0 home victory over Le Havre in the French Première Ligue on Saturday evening.

Back in the lineup after missing Nigeria’s 2026 WAFCON qualifier double-header against Benin Republic, Echegini wasted no time reminding everyone of her quality, Footballrover reports.

Jennifer Echegini’s Assist Sparks PSG’s Early Control

Her perfectly timed pass in the 11th minute set up Romee Leuchter for the opening goal, igniting a sharp PSG counter-attack that caught Le Havre flat-footed.

It was Echegini’s second assist of the season, her first coming in the 1–1 draw against RC Lens in early September.

Despite being deployed in a deeper role in PSG’s 4-5-1 setup, she remained composed under pressure, dictating play from midfield and creating two chances on the pitch.

Leuchter Completes the Job as PSG Stay Perfect

Leuchter added her second of the evening from the penalty spot 23 minutes after being fouled in the box, securing PSG’s sixth straight league win.

From there, the hosts controlled the tempo, keeping Le Havre at bay while Jennifer Echegini showcased her defensive work rate and composure before being replaced by Merveille Kanjinga in the 73rd minute.

The 24-year-old Super Falcons midfielder had missed both legs of Nigeria’s qualifier against Benin due to a hamstring injury suffered while playing for PSG earlier in October.

Her sharp return will be a welcome boost for both club and country, especially as she looks to regain her rhythm ahead of a busy run of fixtures.

PSG’s 2–0 win keeps them perfect in second place on the league table with 15 points from six games.
