Paris FC goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie is seriously preparing for a huge showdown against her Super Falcons teammate Jennifer Echegini in what promises to be an entertaining French Division 1 Féminine derby.
With both players returning from international duty, all eyes are on their fierce encounter as Paris FC is set to host PSG at Stade Charléty, Footballrover reports.
But Nnadozie isn’t backing down. In a bold statement, the 23-year-old goalkeeper is determined to prevent Echegini from scoring, issuing a playful yet confident challenge: “Who are you?”
Chiamaka Nnadozie’s confidence is unshaken as she prepares for the Super Falcons derby.
Echegini, who recently scored a brace in PSG’s dominant 6-1 victory over Dijon Foot, will be looking to continue her fine form.
Nnadozie dismisses Echegini’s challenge ahead of derby clash
The former Juventus star is hoping to carry over her scoring momentum after a decent international performance with the Super Falcons.
However, Nnadozie, who has kept five clean sheets for Paris FC this season, isn’t intimidated.
The Nigerian goalkeeper also earned praise for her stellar performance during the Super Falcons’ recent friendly against France, where she made several key saves to prevent a more significant defeat.
While speaking to Ojbsports ahead of the derby in the French female league, Nnadozie dismissed Echegini’s challenge with a playful yet confident tone.
She highlighted her undefeated record against top strikers like Tabitha Chawinga.
“I’m ready for Jennifer Echegini; I’m not scared of her. Since she came to this camp, she’s been saying, I’m going to beat you on Saturday; I’m going to score. I told her, ‘Go and ask Chawinga (Tabitha); since she came to France, she has never scored me. I’m the only goalkeeper Chawinga never scored on. So who are you?’
Despite the new friendly rivalry with Echegini, Nnadozie remains focused on the team effort.
Reflecting on Paris FC’s recent win over Montpellier, where her fellow Super Falcons teammate Ifeoma Onumonu scored twice against her, the African Female Best Goalkeeper of the Year revealed that she was pained.
“I wasn’t happy I conceded two goals from her (Ifeoma Onumonu),” Chiamaka said.
Nnadozie, however, claimed that individual achievements don’t define success—it’s the team that ultimately matters.
As the two Super Falcons stars face off on the pitch later this night, footballrover will surely be monitoring their individual performances, but the true test will be which team emerges victorious in this highly anticipated Parisian derby.
