Super Falcons star Esther Okoronkwo has been crowned 2025 Northern Super League (NSL) Assist Leader after a decisive season that powered AFC Toronto to a historic regular-season title in the league.

Her creativity in the final third turned tight games into statement wins, sealing her place as the league’s top provider with seven assists, Footballrover reports.

It took the Nigerian forward eight matches to register her first assist, but once it arrived in a dramatic 3–2 win away at Vancouver Rise, her momentum never slowed.

She followed it up with another key contribution in a 2–1 victory over Calgary Wild FC before delivering again versus Halifax Tides, where she not only created a goal but also scored in a 3–1 win.

That exciting run was interrupted only by national duty as Okoronkwo joined the Super Falcons for the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco, helping Nigeria lift a record tenth continental crown with six assists.

She returned to club action in the same rhythm, assisting immediately in a 2–1 win over Montreal Roses FC to keep Toronto’s title push on track.

Okoronkwo’s fifth assist came in the reverse meeting with Vancouver Rise, a match where she also netted twice in a commanding 7–0 result.

She added a sixth against Ottawa Rapid FC, creating the only goal in a narrow 1–0 victory, before wrapping up her season with a seventh assist in another 2–1 win over Montreal Roses FC.

Her impact went beyond claiming the NSL assist leader. Across 20 appearances, she scored eight goals, finishing with 15 total goal contributions that defined Toronto’s rhythm, confidence, and dominance on their march to a first-ever regular-season crown.

Now the 28-year-old forward will take her fine form into international duty once again as the Super Falcons prepare to face Benin Republic in the 2026 WAFCON Qualifiers on October 24 and 28.
