Nigerian forward Chinedu Geoffrey lit up the Astana Arena on Friday evening, scoring his sixth goal of the season in a breathtaking display that saw FC Astana land in 7th heaven after recording their biggest win of the Kazakhstan Premier League (KPL) season.
It was a performance full of confidence, dominance, and relentless attacking football — a commanding 7-0 victory over DC Turan, Footballrover reports.
FC Astana’s Ruthless Display Ends in 7-0 Blowout
From the opening whistle, FC Astana meant business. Nurali Zhaksylykov opened the floodgates just nine minutes in and added his second right before halftime.
A blistering first-half display that also saw Ousmane Camara score in the 16th minute and Nazmi Gripshi get on the scoresheet three minutes later, handing the home team a 4-0 lead at the interval.
The second half picked up right where the first left off. In the 80th minute, Chinedu Geoffrey added Astana’s fifth — his second goal in three matches, bringing his season tally to six in 18 appearances, along with one assist.
Marin Tomasov made it six just six minutes later, before Ramazan Karimov converted a penalty in stoppage time to seal the historic win.
The visitors, DC Turan, were completely overwhelmed — registering only 5 shots to Astana’s 17.
Chinedu Geoffrey’s Impact Keeps Astana on Top
This emphatic result comes at a crucial time for FC Astana, who bounced back superbly from a narrow 1-0 defeat to Ordabasy in their previous outing.
After 18 rounds of games, Astana now lead the KPL table with 40 points, holding a four-point cushion over second-placed Kairat Almaty, who still have two games in hand.
For the 27-year-old Nigerian forward who joined from Liaoning Tieren of China in early 2024, his contributions continue to grow.
With 13 goals in 28 matches for Astana since joining, he’s proving to be a key figure in the team’s domestic and continental ambitions.
FC Astana biggest win has seen their confidence fully restored and momentum building.
Chinedu Geoffrey and his teammates will now look ahead to their upcoming UEFA Conference League qualification first leg against Zimbru Chisinau.
