Nigerian striker Anthony Nwakaeme contributed an assist as Al-Fayha suffered a heavy defeat to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.
Tony Nwakaeme assisted Al-Fayha’s only goal of the game as they succumbed to a crushing defeat away from home, Footballrover reports.
Former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star Sadio Mane stole the show after bagging a brace to help Al Nassr cruise to a convincing win.
Despite Nwakaeme’s efforts, Al-Fayha succumbed to a 3-1 loss at the Al-Awwal Stadium.
The game started promisingly for Al-Fayha, with Fashion Sakala scoring an early goal in the 6th minute courtesy of Nwakaeme’s assist.
However, Al-Nassr equalised in the 72nd minute through Abdulelah Al-Amri, before Sadio Mane sealed the win with two goals in the 76th and 82nd minutes.
Nwakaeme has now assisted four goals in 15 matches in the 2023-2024 Saudi Pro League season, in addition to scoring four goals, all of which have come in away games.
His last goal contribution was in February, when the 35-year-old forward inspired Al-Fayha to a 3-1 win over Al-Hazm with a man-of-the-match performance.
The defeat leaves Al-Fayha in 11th place on the table with 35 points, 33 points behind second-placed Al-Nassr, who trail table-toppers Al-Hilal.
