Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has delivered a harsh assessment of Nicolas Jackson’s performance against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, stating that the young striker lacks the “technical detail” required to succeed at the highest level.
Despite showing promising movement and pace, Jackson failed to capitalise on several goal chances, and Lampard believes this is an area where the 22-year-old needs to improve,Footballrover reports.
“I feel for him a little bit because he made lots of good movement; he is a young striker; the attributes we saw in him today where he is racing Kyle Walker; he is shown pace; he’s shown good movement; but there’s a technical detail there,” Lampard said in an interview with Metro UK.
Lampard emphasised that small moments, such as taking an extra touch and making crucial decisions in high-pressure games, are what separate top players from the rest.

He acknowledged that everyone misses chances, especially in critical moments, but stressed that for a young striker at Chelsea, performing at this level is essential.
Jackson’s missed header, which landed on the goalkeeper’s body instead of the back of the net, was a prime example of this lack of technical detail.
Lampard noted that any placement other than the Manchester City goalie’s body would have resulted in a goal.
The FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester City was a tough pill to swallow.for many Chelsea fans who felt the team had numerous scoring chances to overpower the Pep Guardiola men.

Jackson must obviously improve his technical skills to become a leading striker for the club and also take his game to the next level.
Only time will tell if the young striker can rise to the challenge and become the player Chelsea needs him to be.
