Nigerian striker William Agada once again proved his mettle as he scored for the second consecutive game to salvage a point for Sporting Kansas City in a hard-fought home draw against St. Louis City in the MLS.
Agada’s goal was a lifeline for Sporting KC, who were on the back foot for much of the game, Footballrover reports.
His effort late into the game secured a hard-earned 1-1 draw for Sporting KC against St. Louis City at Children’s Mercy Park on Saturday night.
The home side dominated possession, enjoying 61% of the ball and creating well over nine goal attempts.
However, it was the visitors who struck first through Icelandic forward Nokkvi Thorisson just before halftime, courtesy of a well-worked move involving John Klein and Akil Watts.
It took the 24-year-old Nigerian forward 73 minutes to come to his team’s rescue, converting an assist from Alan Pulido to level the score.
The Nigerian forward was a constant threat to the St. Louis defence, creating a whopping six goal-scoring opportunities and attempting three shots in his 90 minutes of action.
Even as his teammates couldn’t convert these chances, Agada’s individual brilliance still ensured his team avoided defeat.
The game ultimately ended 1-1 as both sides shared the spoils in the MLS matchday 25.
Sporting KC couldn’t find a winner with all their dominance, as St. Louis City held on for a point despite having just 39% possession and only one shot on target.
The draw means Sporting KC remains in the hunt for a playoff spot, with Agada’s goal-scoring form proving invaluable to their campaign.
It’s five goals in his last five games for the Nigerian forward in the MLS, with a record of nine goals in 25 appearances and two assists under his belt.
