Tolu Arokodare has a powerful message for his critics following his first goal of the 2023/24 season in a hard-fought match for KRC Genk in the Jupiler Pro League.
The former Nigeria U-17 forward, Tolu Arokodare, displayed why he’s still a force to reckon with in action for KRC Genk against Anderlecht in the Belgian Pro League.
In a nail-biting encounter, the Nigerian forward made a significant impact by scoring a late equalizer, securing a crucial point for his team.
This 22-year-old rising star came off the bench during the weekend to help KRC Genk secure a vital draw against Anderlecht on home turf.
Introduced in the second half when Genk was trailing by a goal, he displayed his prowess by netting late in the game, bringing the score to a 1:1 draw.
Shortly after the game, Arokodare took to his social media page to shed light on the motivation behind his celebration.
According to the youngster:
“My celebration was a reply to all the nonstop hate, insults, messages, comments and bad wishes I got since the transfer, since my injury and during the warm up for the game,” he said.
The striker also revealed that he had been subjected to negative comments from opposing fans before the game and during his warm-up.
However, he emphasized that his celebration was not meant to provoke anyone but was his way of asserting his presence.
“I Wasnāt trying to offend or disrespect anyone with it, it was just a harmless wave celebration. Just to put it out there, Iām still getting hate messages. But thank you tho and God bless you,” he added
Arokodare was brought in from Nantes to fill the void left by Paul Onuachu’s departure at Genk.
However, his journey in Belgium got off to a challenging start due to an injury.
But now, he’s determined to reclaim his rightful place, proudly representing Nigeria in Belgium.
