Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi has finally opened his goal account in Liga Portugal, finding the net to inspire FC Porto to a commanding 3-1 victory over Arouca on Friday night at the Estádio do Dragão.
The Round 24 encounter saw Moffi come off the bench to score a late goal that sealed the win and sent the home fans into celebration, Footballrover reports.
Terem Moffi Opens Liga Portugal Account for Porto
The 26-year-old was introduced 17 minutes into the second half, replacing Deniz Gül, and wasted little time making his presence felt.
With sharp movement and composure in front of goal, he grabbed his first goal for the Portuguese giants in style.
Although Moffi stole the headlines, fellow Nigerian Zaidu Sanusi also featured for Porto in a strong team display.
Oskar Pietuszewski gave the hosts a dream start, firing them ahead inside the opening minute. Arouca responded in the 70th minute through Nais Djouahra to level proceedings.
Deep into stoppage time, William Gomes restored Porto’s lead from the penalty spot.
Moments later, Moffi capped the performance with a sliding tap-in after meeting a precise cross, securing all three points and extending Porto’s lead at the top to four points.
Moffi Eyes Bigger Role at FC Porto
Despite the breakthrough goal, Moffi is yet to make his first start for Porto. He has featured in three matches so far, all as a substitute, accumulating just 50 minutes of playing time.
The Nigerian international joined the Portuguese side on loan from OGC Nice during the winter transfer window, with an €8 million purchase option included in the deal.
After a challenging spell in France, Moffi arrived in Portugal determined to rediscover his sharpness.
His reputation was built on prolific scoring spells across Lithuania, Belgium, and Ligue 1, as well as appearances for the Nigerian national team.
At Porto, he aims to revive his form and follow in the footsteps of successful Nigerian stars who have represented the club, while helping the team push for domestic glory and make an impact in European competitions.
