Ademola Lookman, the Super Eagles winger, emphasised the significance of enhancing their performance in the upcoming friendlies against Ghana and Mali, following their second-place finish in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Nigerian team is aiming to show off their strength once again during their international friendlies, and they are gearing up for back-to-back encounters with the Black Stars and Eagles, Footballrover reports.
Reflecting on their AFCON journey, where they narrowly missed clinching the title after a 2-1 defeat against hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Lookman highlighted the need for the team to elevate their performance standards.
He admitted that it was an opportunity for the Nigerian male national team to live up to their expectations.
Speaking to the Super Eagles media during a training session in Marrakech, Lookman admitted that,
“It’s an opportunity for us to once again show the level we are as a team, talking about our performance at the AFCON and the level that is expected of us.”
The Atalanta star, eager for the challenge ahead, affirmed the team’s anticipation for the upcoming fixtures.
However, Lookman expressed his joy in reuniting with his teammates post-AFCON, emphasising the camaraderie within the squad.
