Facing off against formidable opponents, Abeokuta Stormers, Sporting Lagos emerged victorious with a convincing 2-0 win.
This crucial victory propelled their points tally to an impressive six, guaranteeing their promotion with a game to spare.
This momentous achievement comes as a significant milestone in the club’s brief history, having gained promotion to the NPL a mere year after its creation.
Throughout the NNL Super Eight, Sporting Lagos has showcased exceptional form, scoring three goals while conceding none.
Their final match against Heartland F.C promises to be of immense importance, as it will determine the ultimate fate of the team and potentially crown them as champions.
By joining the ranks of the NPL, Sporting Lagos will become the 70th distinct team to participate in the league since its inception in 1990.
The club’s head coach, Paul, expressed his elation at their qualification while emphasizing the remaining work that lies ahead.
“We’re delighted to have secured our place, but we understand that there is still much to be done. Our focus is on the upcoming game against Heartland F.C. We are determined to emerge victorious and continue our quest for the NNL title,” Coach Paul affirmed.
Meanwhile, another notable contender eyeing a triumphant return to the Nigerian top flight is Kano Pillars.
After experiencing relegation last season, the team is determined to redeem itself and regain its rightful position.
With three more promotion slots available (two in the Northern Conference and one in the Southern Conference), Kano Pillars currently stands as the favorite in Group A.
They have amassed an impressive six points from two matches, closely followed by Kastina United in second place with three points.
The outcome of their final group games will determine their fate and potentially grant them the coveted promotion.
