Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze is determined to make a significant impact at Serie A giants AC Milan despite facing initial struggles since his arrival from Villarreal last summer, which he claims “has not been easy.”
The 22-year-old recently marked a milestone by netting his first Serie A goal in Milan’s 3-1 triumph over Hellas Verona in just 16 minutes of action, Footballrover reports.
Chukwueze, who came off the bench to score just three minutes after his introduction, acknowledged the challenges he has encountered in adapting to Italian football but remains committed to proving his worth.
He emphasised his trust in coach Stefano Pioli’s plans for him and expressed his determination to persevere through hard work and focus.
In a statement to DAZN, Chukwueze said,
“These first few months have not been easy. I’ll continue to work hard. I trust the coach and his plans for me; I just have to stay focused and continue with the hard work.”
While the young winger celebrated his breakthrough league goal, AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli urged patience from the club’s supporters, admitting the need to give Chukwueze time to settle into his new environment.
Pioli’s plea obviously reflects his confidence in the winger’s potential to thrive in Serie A.
Chukwueze’s contributions extend beyond domestic competition, as he initially found the back of the net twice in UEFA Champions League matches against Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund.
Despite facing challenges, AC Milan currently occupies the second spot in the Serie A standings, with Chukwueze poised to play a crucial role in the team’s pursuit of the league title.
