Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala recorded her name in the history books once again with a sensational debut goal for Bay FC.
The Nigerian striker’s strike secured a thrilling 1-0 victory over Angel City FC, marking Bay FC’s maiden victory in the National Women’s Soccer League, Footballrover reports.
The 29-year-old forward bid farewell to Barcelona after a successful five-year stint, adorned with prestigious titles including two UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies, the Spanish League, the Copa de la Reina, and the Super Copa Feminina three times.
Amidst talks of contract renewal at Barcelona, Oshoala seized the opportunity to join the newly-formed NWSL outfit, Bay FC.
Four former USWNT players founded the club, which made headlines by splurging a record-breaking $860,000 to acquire the talents of Oshoala and Racheal Kundananji from Real Madrid.
Stepping onto the field in her debut match, Oshoala wasted no time leaving her mark.
Just seventeen minutes into the game, she capitalised on a defensive error from Angel City, rifling a powerful shot into the net with her right foot, igniting jubilant celebrations among her teammates.
With a two-year contract and the option for an extension, Oshoala is poised to spearhead Bay FC’s ascent in American football.
