Both sides came into the match desperate for points, and that urgency showed in a closely fought contest defined by discipline, missed chances, and a standout goalkeeping display from Rivers United, Footballrover reports.

Early Pressure and Caution-Filled Opening

The opening exchanges were cagey, with both teams feeling their way into the game. Dynamos enjoyed early spells of possession, while the Port Harcourt outfit looked to stay compact and break on transition.

Dynamos created the clearer chances in the first half, but the goalkeeper of the Nigeria Premier Football League side, Osagie Onisodumeya, was in inspired form.

He produced a superb save in the 20th minute to deny the hosts from close range, then followed it up with another outstanding stop in the 32nd minute.

The Zambian champions wasted a golden opportunity midway through the half, failing to convert when well placed, allowing United to escape punishment.

The Pride of Rivers were forced into an early change in the 38th minute, with Osimaga Duke replacing Ogechukwu Ogbu, as both sides went into the break still locked at 0-0.

The tempo remained steady after the restart, with neither team able to assert full control.

Head coach of the NPFL leaders Finidi George reacted on the hour, making a triple substitution in the 62nd minute as Okon Aniekeme, Wasiu Falolu and Ochobi Elias were introduced to freshen things up.

Ubong Friday came close in the 67th minute, firing in a powerful effort that was saved by the Power Dynamos goalkeeper. Further changes followed late on, with Timothy Zachariah replacing Maclyn Biokpo in the 78th minute.

Power Dynamos vs Rivers United: Late Pressure, Same Outcome

As the match entered the closing stages, Dynamos pushed forward in search of a winner. Onisodumeya once again stood firm in the 83rd minute, positioning himself perfectly to make another routine but crucial save.

Four minutes of added time were indicated, but despite late pressure from the hosts, United held on to secure their first point and clean sheet in the competition.

The goalless draw sees both teams remain bottom and in search of their first win in Group A, but Rivers United will take encouragement from not conceding and a commanding display from their goalkeeper.
