After an agonising 105-day goal drought, Super Falcon star Rasheedat Ajibade finally found the back of the net for Atletico Madrid against Levante Badalona on Saturday.
Despite her crucial goal, her team was unable to secure a win, settling for a disappointing 1-1 draw, Footballrover reports.
Rasheedat Ajibade’s long-awaited return to scoring
Rasheedat Ajibade’s goal came after a lengthy 3-month, 9-game stretch without finding the net.
The Nigerian forward had last scored in September, netting a hat-trick in Atletico’s 4-0 victory over Madrid CFF.
Her 19th-minute strike in Saturday’s match handed Atletico a slender lead, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Levante Badalona’s second-half rally.
Rasheedat Ajibade’s impact in the game
Although Ajibade ended her 105-day goal drought, her individual performance stood out.
She completed the most dribbles (6) in the match and recorded an impressive 80% pass accuracy.
Ajibade also contributed defensively with seven recoveries and ten ground duels won.
With six goals and two assists in 11 appearances this season, she continues to be a key player for Atletico Madrid.
However, Levante Badalona managed to level the scores just 14 minutes into the second half through Irina Uribe, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Rasheedat and her Atletico Madrid teammates will next face Granada as they look to maintain their third-place standing with 29 points in the league.
