Nigerian forward Edna Imade continued her remarkable form in Liga F, scoring in her sixth consecutive match to guide Granada to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over UD Tenerife on Saturday.
The highly anticipated Round 15 clash at Ciudad Deportiva del Granada saw Imade shine once again, while Gift Monday’s stoppage-time goal wasn’t enough to save Tenerife from defeat, Footballrover reports.
Imade broke the deadlock in the 39th minute, giving Granada a narrow lead at halftime.
Just four minutes into the second half, Ariadna Mingueza doubled the advantage, putting Granada firmly in control.
Despite a late push from UD Tenerife, Gift Monday managed to score in stoppage time, but her effort came too late to change the outcome.
Edna Imade and Gift Monday continue to impress in Liga F
This latest goal brings Edna Imade’s tally to 11 goals in 15 appearances as she continues to maintain her status as one of Liga F’s top performers.
On the other hand, Gift Monday now has seven goals in 13 matches, showing off her consistent impact for UD Tenerife.
Before this encounter, both players were in excellent form. Imade had previously scored Granada’s only goal in their 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid.
While Gift had delivered a standout performance with a brace and an assist in Tenerife’s 5-1 victory over Deportivo La Coruña.
Another Super Falcons star, Rinsola Babajide, was also involved in the game but failed to impress and was subsequently subbed off and replaced by Linnéa Solvoll Laupstad.
Granada climbs the table as UD Tenerife struggles
Granada’s victory moves them up to 6th place on the Liga F table with 22 points, narrowly edging out UD Tenerife, who sit in 7th with 20 points.
Granada will aim to maintain this momentum in their upcoming clash against Eibar, while Tenerife will look to bounce back when they face Madrid CFF.
Right before the match, Imade received the award for best player of the month for December in Liga F.
Both Imade and Gift remain key figures for their respective teams, and their performances will be crucial in the second half of the season.
