Rasheed Akanbi Eyes Promotion with Boluspor

Turkish TFF First League side Boluspor have secured the services of Akanbi on a two-year contract, officially announcing the Nigerian forward on their social media pages.

The 26-year-old star, who plays as a forward or winger, first kicked off his professional career with Menemenspor in 2020.

After spells at Menemenspor and Kocaelispor in Türkiye, Akanbi switched to Moldovan giants Sheriff Tiraspol, where he netted seven goals in 20 appearances.

His journey has seen him feature in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Europa Conference League — proving his experience on Europe’s big nights.

So far, Akanbi has clocked over 33 goals and six assists in 107 career games. He has already started training with his new Boluspor teammates and looks fired up for the season ahead.

Speaking at his unveiling, Rasheed Akanbi said he felt thrilled to return to Turkey and was proud to join an ambitious side like Boluspor.

He added that he has grown a lot in the last few seasons, and he’s ready to give everything to help the team fight for promotion.

It’s worth noting that Paul Mukairu was the last Nigerian player to feature for Boluspor before his move to Pogoni Szczecin.

Samuel Opeh Brings Defensive Steel to Malisheva

While Rasheed Akanbi settles in Türkiye, fellow Nigerian defender Samuel Opeh is stepping into a new chapter with FC Malisheva of Kosovo.

Opeh has completed his transfer from FC Laci in Albania and is eager to help Malisheva in the UEFA Conference League.

Opeh’s journey started with Warri Wolves in the Nigerian league. In 2020, he moved as a free agent to Oktepa Tashkent, spent a season there, and then switched to Lok. Tashkent for two years before joining FC Laci in 2024.

Now, he’s ready to defend Malisheva’s colours on the European stage.

We are pleased to introduce to you the Nigerian defender, who will from this edition be defending our colours.

Opeh comes from the Superior Division of Albania, where, wearing Laci’s shirt, he has been one of the most prominent players of the championship.

His qualities and experience will provide more stability and security to our defensive department. We are delighted to have Samuel join our squad for the new season,” the club shared on social media.

We at Footballrover wish Rasheed Akanbi and Samuel Opeh all the best in their new homes.
