Rabiu Ali highlights discipline and lifestyle choices
When questioned about how he remains fresh and vibrant in the sport despite his age, Ali emphasised the importance of his personal choices.
He highlighted that staying away from detrimental habits such as alcohol, smoking, and even romantic pursuits has played a significant role in his success.
“Aside from injuries, your lifestyle, on and off the pitch, plays a big role in how long or how far your career can go. Additionally, I avoid acts like drinking, smoking, and going after women,” he said.
The soft-spoken captain credited his sustained performance to a blend of faith, discipline, and a bit of good fortune, expressing gratitude for being spared from serious injuries throughout his career.
The midfielder strongly believes that a balanced lifestyle is just as essential as raw talent for achieving longevity in professional football.
“Almighty Allah has been merciful to me. I haven’t had career-threatening injuries,” he concluded.
At 43 years old, he remains an influential figure, having played his 18th league season and continuing to compete at a high level, even scoring a brace in their opening match against Ikorodu City.
