After the recent international break that kept Nigeria’s World Cup hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Lesotho and a 4-0 triumph against Benin Republic, several Super Eagles stars returned to club action abroad with Paul Onuachu, Edna Imade leading the way and displaying their quality over the weekend.
The Super Falcons also made headlines with impressive performances in Europe and North America, Footballrover reports.
Super Eagles Stars Make Their Mark Abroad
Taiwo Awoniyi returned to action for Nottingham Forest, starting in a 3–0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea.
The Nigerian forward made an immediate impact, pressuring the defence and nearly scoring after capitalising on a Chelsea error, though he was substituted at halftime.
Awoniyi continues to compete for consistent minutes in a crowded Forest attack, with his determination offering hope for more opportunities.
Paul Onuachu continued his remarkable scoring form for Trabzonspor, netting in a 2–1 victory over Çaykur Rizespor.
The 31-year-old striker scored in the 19th minute with a powerful header, marking his fourth consecutive game with a goal and helping Trabzonspor maintain their unbeaten streak in the Süper Lig.
Rafiu Durosinmi struck again for Viktoria Plzen, scoring the lone goal in a 1–0 win against Bohemians 1905.
This marked his third straight match finding the net, taking his season tally to ten goals across all competitions and keeping Plzen on track ahead of their Europa League clash with AS Roma.
Victor Olatunji was the star man for Real Salt Lake, scoring a brace to secure a 2-2 draw at St. Louis City, sealing a playoff spot.
His sharp movement and composure have made him a key attacking weapon, now with four goals and an assist in just eight MLS appearances.
Alhassan Yusuf stood out as New England Revolution drew 2-2 with Chicago Fire.
Scoring just 44 seconds into the match, Yusuf ended a six-month drought and added an assist, highlighting his importance across all 34 league matches this season.
Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey featured for Fulham in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.
Iwobi also became Nigeria’s all-time Premier League appearance leader, surpassing 298 games, while Bassey bolstered the defence late in the game.
Tolu Arokodare’s wait for his first league goal with Wolves continues after a 2-0 loss to Sunderland. Meanwhile, Chrisantus Uche was absent as Crystal Palace drew 3-3 with Bournemouth.
Nigerian duo Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke appeared for Sevilla in a 3-1 home defeat to Mallorca.
Despite late substitutions, Sevilla’s collapse after halftime prevented them from closing the gap on La Liga leaders.
Victor Osimhen came off the bench to help Galatasaray to a 2-1 win over Basaksehir. Fresh from a Super Eagles hat-trick, Osimhen now faces a crucial battle to regain club form and maintain his goal threat in the Süper Lig.
Super Falcons Stars Continue Their Dominance
Joy Omewa impressed for Fortuna Hjørring in a 2-2 Danish A-Liga draw against FC Nordsjælland.
Scoring her eighth consecutive match, she now has 15 goals in all competitions, sealing her place in the Super Falcons squad for the 2026 WAFCON qualifiers.
Edna Imade starred for Real Sociedad in a 3-0 victory over Eibar, scoring twice, including a penalty, and extending her scoring streak to five consecutive Liga F matches.
Her form continues to drive her club’s resurgence, even as she awaits her Super Falcons call-up.
Esther Okoronkwo excelled for AFC Toronto, helping the team secure their first regular season title in the Northern Super League.
With eight goals and seven assists, the Super Falcons star remains pivotal for Nigeria’s national team and prepares for upcoming WAFCON 2026 qualifiers.
