Super Eagles icon Odion Ighalo displayed his goal-scoring prowess by grabbing a hat-trick for Al-Wehda against Al Khaleej, bringing his total to eight goals this season in the Saudi Pro League.
Al-Wehda clinched a significant victory against Al Khaleej in a thrilling Saturday match at their home ground, the King Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium.
The 34-year-old forward displayed an outstanding performance, netting all three goals in Al-Wehda’s 3-1 triumph over Al Khaleej during the league’s 14th round.
Ighalo initiated the scoring for the Mecca City team in the first half and secured a brace in the latter part of the game, Footballrover reports
In a remarkable early play, Ighalo combined beautifully with Abdulaziz Noor within three minutes to secure the initial goal, providing his team with an early lead.
However, their elation was short-lived as the visitors swiftly equalised with a Fabio Martins spot kick 17 minutes later.
Entering the second half with high spirits, Ighalo swiftly found the net again, restoring Al-Wehda’s lead within 13 minutes.
Later in the game, the Nigerian star completed his hat-trick by converting a penalty, doubling the lead, and igniting cheers from the home fans.
His exceptional performance led Al-Wehda to a 3-1 victory, securing all three points and propelling them to 9th place on the table with 19 points.
Looking ahead, Ighalo and his teammates will be looking set to face Al-Raed in the first week of December at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium, aiming to seize another crucial victory.
