However, this move by the league hasn’t escaped the critical eye of Nigerians, who swiftly expressed their discontent over what they perceive as biased treatment between Sporting Lagos and Rivers United.

In a poignant social media outcry, fans lambasted the NPFL body for overlooking alleged infractions by Rivers United, highlighting instances where the club’s chairman reportedly assaulted a journalist and allegedly hindered the league’s official streaming partner.

This disparity in handling issues between the clubs has left many questioning the fairness of the league’s disciplinary actions.

One fan, Ashytect, voiced his frustration, citing the disparity in treatment, stating,
