Napoli rebuffs €100m from Newcastle United for Victor Osimhen

Osimhen

Newcastle United’s offers for Napoli star man – Victor Osimhen were reportedly rebuffed by the Serie A side earlier this month.

The Mapies have already signed the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Chris Wood, and Kieran Trippier during the January transfer window, and have further deals in the works for deadline day, but they were unsuccessful in their attempt to sign Osimhen.Napoli rebuffs €100m from Newcastle United for Victor Osimhen

The plan had been for the Super Eagles forward to become a summer target for the Magpies, although a costly one, but he looks to be staying put for the moment.

The Nigerian international is obviously pleased plying his trade with the Italian side, where he has 13 goals in 24 games this season, including a double in the weekend’s 2-1 win against Hellas Verona.

Any agreement to sign Osimhen from Napoli would undoubtedly cost far higher than €100 million, a number Newcastle are reported to have offered due to Aurelio De Laurentiis’ admiration for his star.

Mario Giunta, a Sky Italia journalist, revealed this on Radio Goal, which was transmitted by Area Napoli.

?”There are many clubs on the Nigerian, but I feel like giving some news: Osimhen will stay in Naples again next season. Aurelio De Laurentiis and Luciano Spalletti are crazy about him and have no intention of getting rid of him. In addition, the former Lille man earns important figures in Campania. He is fine and doesn’t press to go away,” he said.

If true, it will be a setback for Eddie Howe and his team, who had readily labeled Osimhen as a potential goal, but we all know money talks, and they may be able to prove more persuasive.

However, Napoli is now in second place in Serie A, putting them in contention for a Champions League position, something Newcastle will not be able to provide next season, regardless of their financial resources.
