After a goalless first half, fans did not have to wait too long as Ludovic Blas’ penalty after a handball incident in the area gave Nantes the lead in the 47th minute.
Blas’ penalty was Nantes‘ only shot on target even as Nice sought to claw their way back into the game but Alban Lafont’s superb performance in front of goal was Nantes saving grace.
In the 73rd minute, Nantes head coach – Antoine Kombouare replaced the 26-year-old Nigerian winger with Osman Bukari.
Despite the bombardment from Nice in the last minutes, Nantes held on for the crucial victory.
