Liverpool clinched a narrow 1-0 win over Man City at home on Sunday thanks to an excellent execution of a well-thought-out game plan and a sweet strike from Mo Salah.
The Reds were under pressure to avoid dropping further behind their opponents, who had been dominant before visiting Anfield.
Pep Guardiola team could’ve opened a massive margin with a win, as far as 15 points after an extraordinarily difficult start to Liverpool’s Premier League season.

By scoring against Manchester City, Mo Salah snapped his Premier League scoring drought and passed Steven Gerrard to take over second position on Liverpool’s all-time list of Premier League goal scorers.
In Liverpool’s 2-1 loss at Man United in August, the Egypt international tied Steven Gerrard’s record of 120 league goals, but he had gone five Premier League games without finding back of the net.
But guess what? The second-highest Premier League goal scorer for Liverpool is now Salah, surpassing Gerrard.
Following his goal against Manchester City, Mohamed Salah became the second Liverpool player to have more Premier League goals after Robbie Fowler.
Invading Gerrard with his 121st goal on Sunday, the Egyptian magician is now just seven goals away from tying Robbie Fowler’s club-record total of 128 Premier League goals.

It appears that Fowler’s record will soon be surpassed by Salah and when he does, it will be the most recent in a long line of historic goalscoring successes for the legendary winger.
With at least 20 goals in four different seasons, Salah has the most goals of any player in a single Premier League season with 32 in 2017–18.
Throughout the history of the Reds in the Premier League, a player has reached that milestone 11 times, with Salah being directly responsible for four of those occurrences, which is two more than any other Liverpool player.
