Manchester United 3-2 Norwich City was the scoreline at Old Trafford, Ronaldo’s late free-kick proved crucial, as his hat-trick gave the Red Devils all three points in their Premier League match on Saturday.
The hosts were on a shaky run of form before coming into the game, having lost 1-0 to Everton in their last league meeting and only winning once in their last five games.
While Norwich won their last game, 2-0 over Burnley, it was only their fifth win of the season and their first in nine games dating back to January.
Norwich kept coming, with chances to tie or possibly win the game, but Ronaldo’s outstanding goal-scoring performance guaranteed Manchester United gained momentum in their top four chase.
Ronaldo scored three vital goals and took a total of eight shots, five of which were on target.
In addition, the Portuguese delivered a vital pass and engaged in five aerial duels. His second goal came from one of them, and his third came from a thunderous free-kick that proved to be the game-winner.
Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 60 hat-tricks in his professional career for club and country (50 at club level), with his 58th direct free-kick goal coming today.
