Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall penned a heartfelt goodbye message to the Foxes faithful before his official transfer to Chelsea was announced on Tuesday.
In a message posted on social media, Dewsbury-Hall, a product of Leicester’s academy system, reflected on his 17-year journey with the club, Footballrover reports.
“Well, what can I say? What a journey it’s been,” he began, expressing his fondness for the club and the memories forged during his time there.
The 25-year-old midfielder shouldered some of the blame for Leicester’s relegation in the 2022–23 season.
However, he took solace in the team’s swift return to the Premier League, stating,
“I made it my goal to ensure we got back to the Premier League within the first season… I’m very proud of what we achieved together last season.”
Dewsbury-Hall went on to thank his teammates, coaches, and fans, acknowledging the outpouring of support he received during his departure.
“The overwhelming amount of messages I’ve received… has honestly touched me,” he shared.
He concluded by expressing his well wishes for Leicester City, stating,
“I’m glad I’m leaving the club with them in the Premier League, where they belong, and I wish Leicester City all the best in the upcoming season and further on.”
Last season, the English midfielder featured in 44 games for Leicester, scoring 12 goals and providing 14 assists; that’s well over 26 goals contribution for a midfielder.
He joined Chelsea on a £30 million deal from Leicester City. Contract until June 2030, with the Blues youngster Michael Golding looking set to join Leicester in a £5 million separate deal.
