Kelechi Iheanacho’s future has become a hot topic in the transfer market, with recent reports suggesting a possible move to Al Ahly SC.
But is there any truth to the rumours linking the Nigerian star to the Egyptian giants? His agent has now set the record straight, dismissing claims of a January transfer, footballrover reports.
Iheanacho’s future at Sevilla: Is a move imminent?
Kelechi Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla last summer after leaving Leicester City, is reportedly open to leaving the Spanish club due to limited first-team opportunities.
Despite scoring three goals in the Copa del Rey, Iheanacho has struggled to make an impact in La Liga, failing to find the back of the net in 11 appearances.
His agent, Roger Wittmann, has firmly rejected any speculation connecting Iheanacho with Al Ahly.
Wittmann clarified that no contact had been made by the 12-time African champions, labelling the reports as completely false.
“No one from Egypt has contacted us to talk about the player, so therefore the news that is out there is completely false,” Wittmann said as quoted by Spanish sports daily AS.
This dismissal follows rumours of interest not only from Al Ahly but also from clubs in the United States, Greece, Turkey, and England.
What’s next for Iheanacho?
The 28-year-old forward, whose contract with Sevilla runs until 2026, has been absent from Sevilla’s recent matchday squad and training sessions, fuelling further speculation about his departure.
As the January transfer window approaches, only time will tell whether the Super Eagles star will secure a move, but for now, he remains part of Sevilla’s future plans.
With no approach from Al Ahly, fans will have to wait for more updates as the window progresses.
