Super Falcons forward Joy Omewa ended Fortuna Hjørring’s regular season on a blazing high, scoring once again to lead a dramatic comeback against HB Koge.
The Nigerian striker came off the bench and delivered the decisive goal in a tight 2–1 victory that capped her incredible scoring run, Footballrover reports.
Joy Omewa’s Super-Sub Impact Sparks Comeback
Thrown into the game just after the break, the 22-year-old replaced Miyu Takahira with the home side already trailing. It took her only 20 minutes to make a difference.
First, Ashley Riefner dragged Fortuna level in the 56th minute, giving the hosts belief after a tense start to the second half that saw the visitors take the lead through Flora Lacho.
Omewa then struck in the 66th minute, showing great timing and calm finishing to flip the contest on its head.
The late-season surge followed a disappointing Europa Cup exit midweek, where even Omewa’s goal could not save Fortuna from elimination.
However, she responded in style, lifting her team to finish strong rather than fade out.
Omewa’s Record-Breaking Season Defined by Consistency
Omewa’s impact goes far beyond one match. She has now scored in 15 straight games, closing her fifth campaign at the club with elite numbers:
She has recorded 21 goals in 22 matches this season, with nine of them scored in European competitions.
Her output breaks down to 13 goals and one assist in 14 Danish A-Liga outings, four goals in the Champions League qualifiers, and another four in the Europa Cup.
Fortuna finished second in the league, just three points behind HB Koge, with Omewa at the heart of their attacking force all season.
Her fearless finishing, especially off the bench, has continued to push her profile higher in European football.
