Nigerian forward Gift Orban has continued to maintain his recent fine form by netting his first goal of the season in French Ligue 1, propelling Lyon to a commanding 3-1 victory over Nantes during their recent clash.
Orban, making an impact as a substitute, secured Lyon’s victory as they outclassed Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire, Footballrover reports.
Olympique Lyonnais staged a remarkable comeback, overcoming an early setback when Matthis Abline scored for Nantes just 16 minutes into the game.
Despite a spirited first-half display from both teams, Lyon trailed at halftime.
However, Lyon’s relentless attack paid off in the second half.
Alexandre Lacazette levelled the score in the 75th minute, setting his team up for a dramatic turnaround.
Subsequent goals from Malick Fofana and Orban secured Lyon’s victory, with Orban sealing the win in stoppage time.
This crucial win propelled Lyon closer to seventh-place Stade de Reims in the league standings.
After a challenging start to the season, Lyon now has an opportunity to finish in the top half of the Ligue 1 table.
While Nantes fought bravely, they missed a chance to distance themselves from the relegation playoff spot.

Nantes faces a crucial encounter against Le Havre in their quest to secure their position in Ligue 1 for the next season.
Despite the absence of Nigerian winger Moses Simon due to injury, Nantes put up a spirited performance.
On the other hand, Orban’s consecutive goals signal a promising turn in his form for Lyon, hoping it will potentially earn him a call-up to the Super Eagles camp in June.
