Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has outlined the mindset driving the Super Eagles as they prepare for a crucial AFCON Group C clash against Tunisia.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru sets Super Eagles’ focus for AFCON clash
Tunisia currently lead Group C after a 3-1 win over Uganda, while the Super Eagles opened their campaign with a narrow 2-1 victory against Tanzania.
With the table finely balanced, the next game could shape Nigeria’s path in the tournament.
For Dele-Bashiru, the motivation to deliver is already built in. He stressed that simply being at the Africa Cup of Nations is enough to drive the team forward.
“I think just being in the AFCON is enough motivation for us to go and try to get the victory tomorrow,” Dele-Bashiru told newsmen before the Super Eagles’ training on Friday.
The Lazio midfielder also pointed to the bigger picture, as Nigeria aim to control their group destiny.
“Of course it’s an important match for us; we want to finish top of the group, and we will do everything possible to get the job done.”
Dele-Bashiru outlines four principles behind Super Eagles’ approach
Beyond the result, Dele-Bashiru highlighted the values shaping the Super Eagles’ preparation and performance at AFCON.
He explained that consistency in attitude and discipline remains key as the competition unfolds.
“I have said that it’s important that we take each game with the same focus, with the same respect for the opposition, train hard, and follow what the coach wants from us, which will help us prepare for the match.”
Dele-Bashiru also addressed questions about his role within the team, making it clear that adaptability is part of his game.
The Nigeria international noted that he is ready to contribute wherever he is needed on the pitch.
“In my career I’ve played in a lot of positions, so I’m quite versatile when it comes to that aspect of the game. So wherever the coach asks me to play, that’s where I will play and do as well as I can to help the team get the victory.”
