Enyimba head coach, Finidi George, has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a spot in the African Football League semi-finals, at the expense of Wydad Athletic Club.
The NPFL side are set to face Adil Ramzi’s team in the quarter-final’s second leg at the Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca on Thursday, Footballrover reports
During a press conference, Coach Finidi, who leads a youthful squad with grand aspirations, highlighted their ample preparation time and determination to impress their fans away from home.
Nevertheless, the Nigerian champions will be facing an uphill task in this second round of their quarter-final clash on Thursday, after having a 1-0 deficit from the first leg in Uyo last weekend.
Despite the setback, Finidi remains optimistic about their chances and emphasized that the key to success in Casablanca is for each player to deliver outstanding performances.
George is confident his young team can achieve a shocking victory.
“If the match was today, I would have been concerned about not getting enough rest, but the match is tomorrow, and we have a good amount of time to prepare for it. We have a young team, but all the players have dreams and we are here to achieve qualification. This will happen if all the players deliver a good performance,” he said
Goalkeeper of the Peoples’ Elephant, Olorunleke Ojo added that;
“We came here to achieve victory. We are ready and confident, and we have spoken together. We faced some difficulties and challenges before coming here, but we are a professional team, and we can’t complain. We are here to win and qualify. we want to defeat wydad just as they did in the first leg.”
