The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has released the fixtures for the President Federation Cup Round of 16, and reigning Nigeria Premier League champions Enyimba of Aba appear to have been handed a comfortable draw.

The Aba-based team will face Sokoto United, which many will consider a relatively weaker opponent, in their bid to win the coveted trophy, Footballrover reports.

The Round of 16 fixtures promise exciting matches, with key encounters like Sunshine Stars vs. Rivers United and Katsina United vs. Kano Pillars.

The local derby between Inter Lagos and Ikorodu City is also expected to be a thrilling contest.

Another exciting fixture will see North West rivals Katsina United and Kano Pillars face off in what promises to be a fiercely contested match.

Other matches include Shooting Stars vs. the El-Kanemi Warriors and Kwara United vs. the Abia Warriors.

Recall that the current holders of the President Federation Cup, Bendel Insurance, have been eliminated from the competition, paving the way for new champions to emerge.

The Benin Arsenal bowed out of the 2024 edition after losing 2-0 to NNL side Wikki Tourists of Bauchi on Wednesday, May 22, in Abuja Centre.

This unexpected exit has left NPFL sides like Rivers United and Enyimba as the new favourites to lift the trophy.
