Two European women’s football giants will be locking horns against each other on August 20, 2023, at Stadium Australia in the final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The Lionesses of England defeated co-host Australia early today, 3-1, in the second semi-finals of the global women’s football tournament, which took place at ANZ Stadium, Sydney, Australia.
The Lionesses scored two goals in the second half after netting the first in the 36th minute of the match to book a place in the final of the competition.
Ella Toon scored for England to keep the score at 0-1 in the first 45 minutes of the match. Samantha Kerr equalised for Australia in the 63rd minute of the second half.
Lauren increased the goal tally to 1-2 for the Lionesses in the 71st minute of the second half before Alessia Russo took the match beyond the Aussies by scoring the third for the Lionesses in the 86th minute of the second half of the match.

Spain defeated Sweden 2-1 in the first semi-final match played at Eden Park Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, to qualify for the final of the championship.
Barcelona star striker Salma Paralleuelo scored in the 81st minute of the second half to give the Spaniards a late lead in the match.
Rebecka Blonqvist drew Sweden 1-1 level in the 88th minute of the second half before Olga Carmonia scored the much-needed third goal for Spain in the 89th minute of the match.

Co-host Australia will now meet first semi-final match losers Sweden on August 19, 2023, at Lang Park, Brisbane, Australia, for the third-place match of the women’s football championship.
Meanwhile, Yesterday in Nigeria, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, reportedly rewarded Super Falcon players Desire Oparanozie, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Osinachi Ohale, and goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi with $10,000 and a plot of land each.
