Former NPFL star Echeta Deputy continues to make his mark in the Iraq Stars League, with an outstanding performance leading Zakho FC to a commanding home victory over Al-Qasim.

The 24-year-old left winger contributed with a crucial goal, helping his team extend their unbeaten run and maintain their position at the top of the league, Footballrover reports.

The Nigerian forward netted the third goal in Zakho’s dominant 6-2 victory over their visitors.

This marked his fourth goal contribution for the club since joining last month, with one goal and three assists under his belt.

But with Zakho FC on fire, could this be the start of a serious title challenge?

Echeta Deputy’s impact on Zakho FC’s stellar win

Zakho FC wasted no time asserting their dominance in this high-scoring Round 19 clash at the Zakho International Stadium.

It was Gustavo Henrique who struck first in the 8th minute, followed by Patrick Marcelino doubling the lead just two minutes later.

But it was Echeta Deputy’s 14th-minute strike that really sealed the deal, putting Zakho in a commanding 3-0 lead.

Though Al-Qasim briefly got back into the game through a penalty by Al Harith in the 27th minute, Zakho FC quickly regained control.

Ahmed Yasin restored their three-goal advantage just three minutes later, and Henrique completed his brace in the 36th minute.

Henrique went on to complete his hat trick in the 62nd minute, putting Zakho in full command at 6-1.

A late consolation goal from Seif Rashed in the 86th minute did little to change the outcome, as Zakho took all three points.

Zakho’s unbeaten run: Can they keep the momentum going?

The victory marks Zakho FC’s third straight win, following previous victories over Al-Najaf and Al-Hudod.

With Deputy playing an important role in their attack, the team has now gone unbeaten in their last five matches, with four wins and a draw.

Their win against Al-Qasim also keeps them firmly at the top of the league, 10 points ahead of their visitors in 7th place.

As Zakho prepare for their next fixture against Erbil on Valentine’s Day, the question on everyone’s mind is: will it be a match of love, or yet another crushing victory for the league leaders?
