Falconets head coach Chris Danjuma has praised his team for their outstanding performance after securing a spot in the second round of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Nigerian side cruised past Venezuela with an emphatic 4-0 victory in Cali on Saturday night, displaying their dominance once more in the competition, Footballrover reports.
Aminat Bello, Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, and Flourish Sabastine all found the back of the net in the first half to give Nigeria a commanding lead.
While substitute Joe Igbokwe capped off the victory with a fourth goal late in the game, sealing the Falconets’ place in the knockout stage for the tenth time in the tournament’s history.
Speaking to FIFA.com after the match, Coach Danjuma expressed his delight with the team’s performance.

He emphasised that while winning is important, his focus is on playing an attractive, high-quality brand of football.
“We don’t just want to win; we want to play good football,” Danjuma remarked.
The coach went on to highlight what he wants the world to take note of: the sheer talent in his squad—homegrown players.
“We have a lot of talents that we want the world to see, and this is an opportunity to see those talents because 90% of them are from the local league; they are not professionals coming from anywhere in Europe,” he said.
With Nigeria finishing second in Group D, they are set to face either Japan or Austria in the Round of 16.
Nigeria has now joined a prestigious lineup of nations that have advanced to the knockout stages, including Germany, Spain, the USA, Brazil, France, Mexico, and host country Colombia.
