The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the date for the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup 2026 African Qualifiers Official Draw.
The draw will take place on Thursday, 13 July in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, and will determine the groups for the African Preliminaries Qualifiers.
Football fans around the continent will be able to witness the draw live on CAF’s digital platforms and CAFONLINE.com at 15:00 GMT (18:00 Cairo time).
According to CAF on their official website, the draw will be held a few hours after the 45th CAF Ordinary Assembly, also taking place in Abidjan.
To ensure fairness and competitiveness, the Member Associations of CAF will be divided into nine groups during the draw.
Each group will consist of several teams that will compete against each other in the qualifying matches.
The winners of each group will secure an automatic qualification for the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup™ 2026.
The road to the prestigious tournament begins here, and the teams will undoubtedly give their all to claim a spot on the global stage.
However, the excitement does not end there. The four best runners-up from the group stage will have the opportunity to participate in the CAF Play-Off tournament.
This thrilling competition will determine the final representative from Africa in the FIFA Play-off Tournament.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be a historic event, with an expanded format featuring 48 teams from around the world.
