Bamidele Yusuf makes instant Europa League statement

Bamidele, who had endured a slow start to life in Hungary, produced a composed finish to help complete a stunning turnaround in Austria.

His season had begun with frustration — limited minutes, two games as an unused substitute, and just 11 Europa League minutes against Genk before this clash.

But against Salzburg, he seized his chance and justified the manager’s decision to hand him a starting role.

Salzburg went ahead early through Edmund Baidoo, and even after Ferencváros won a first-half penalty, Alexander Schlager denied Barnabás Varga to keep the visitors trailing at the break.

The second half sparked a complete shift in momentum. Varga levelled immediately after the restart, before Kristoffer Zachariassen’s header made it 2–1 and opened the door for a Ferencváros surge.

Then came the moment that defined the match. Bamidele raced onto a long pass, showed superb control, and finished calmly beyond Schlager to fire Ferencváros into a commanding 3–1 lead.

Salzburg substitute Yorbe Vertessen pulled one back, but the Hungarians held firm to secure all three points and extend their unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competitions.

Bamidele lasted 72 minutes before making way for Lenny Joseph, leaving the pitch to applause after a performance that could reshape his season.

The victory also marked back-to-back major European away wins for Ferencváros for the first time since the 1967/68 season — with Yusuf Bamidele at the heart of such a historic night.
