Both sides came into the game in dire need of a victory as Everton needed to slow the relegation tide, while the Red Devils were in danger of falling behind Arsenal and Tottenham in the race for a top-four finish.

Everton had a 1-0 lead over Manchester United before the halftime break in their Premier League match.

Gordon scored the only goal of the game as he pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the box and scored thanks to a Harry Maguire deflection to hand Lampard a priceless three points.

Alex Iwobi, Super Eagles star man excelled for Everton with a spectacular display and was given 90 minutes of game time.

Everton’s lone goal came thanks to the 25-year-old’s assist, which allowed Anthony Gordon to curl the ball into the far side of the post, beating De Gea hands down.

His intensity and effort rate off the ball, in particular, set a high standard for the rest of the season that every other Everton player should strive to match.

This was likely his strongest performance since joining the club, as he displayed a high level of talent, strength, desire, pace, and offensive purpose.

United failed to respond and were lackluster in the first half, aside saves from two Marcus Rashford goals.

In the second half, Frank Lampard’s team was put to the ultimate test of their resiliency under duress.

Everton, on the other hand, hung on to clinch a crucial victory in their fight to stay in the Premier League.
