  • In their preseason friendly in Las Vegas, Chelsea defeated Club America 2-1.
  • Timo Werner gave Chelsea the lead in the 55th minute of the game
  • But three minutes later, Reece James scored an own goal to tie the game.
  • The Blues were able to recover their victory as Mason Mount scored in the 83rd minute.

Chelsea found it difficult to shake off the dead legs as they took to the field to take on their Mexican opponents in Las Vegas on Sunday morning.

The Premier League side appeared sluggish and had trouble connecting passes in the early part of the game.

It wasn’t until Tuchel decided to switch out his entire starting lineup at halftime, bringing in players like Werner, Pulisic, Alonso, Batshuayi, Jorginho, James, Emerson, Mount, Azpilicueta, Ampadu, and Bettinelli.

The game was immediately transformed by Mount, and his alliance with James almost proved to be too much for the Mexican team to handle. The dynamic combination contributed to Chelsea’s performance before Timo Werner’s first goal.

  • Timo Werner scored the first goal for Chelsea just after the interval.

In the 55th minute of the match, the German attacker scored to give the Blues the lead. It didn’t last long, though, as Chelsea goalkeeper Bettinelli was caught off guard by James’ dubious backpass.

James put in a lot of effort, though, to try to make up for it by making a beautiful connection with Mount down the pitch’s side. Chelsea advanced to the Club America box through a series of passes between the two. However, not much came of it.

  • Until 83rd minute, when Chelsea’s Mason Mount scored the winning goal from the corner of the box.

Reece James passed a cross-field ball to Marcos Alonso, who picked it up and passed it to Mount, who was standing on the side of the field.

The English midfielder controlled the ball before attempting to score from the edge of the box and it’s safe to say that it was accomplished, and the finish was magnificent.

Following the restoration of Chelsea’s advantage, the Blues fought out the remaining minutes to defeat Club America 2-1 and the 23-year-old was awarded MOTM for his stunning display.
