Alex Iwobi delivered a commendable performance at the American Express Stadium, adding his 4th assist of the season as Fulham faced Brighton in a dramatic Premier League clash.

The 28-year-old Nigerian midfielder set up the opener, but despite his efforts, the visitors left empty-handed after a gut-wrenching 98th-minute penalty decided their fate, Footballrover reports.

It had been 97 days since Iwobi last registered an assist, with his previous one coming on December 1st.

He had already assisted in victories over Newcastle and Crystal Palace and played a key role in Fulham’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham.

This time, he turned provider again, setting up Raúl Jiménez’s goal in the first half, giving Fulham an early lead against Brighton.

However, the hosts responded swiftly as Jan Paul van Hecke rose highest to head in the equaliser—his first-ever goal for Brighton.

From then on, the Seagulls piled on the pressure, but Fulham’s defense held firm until the dying moments.

Brighton’s last-gasp winner shatters Fulham’s hopes

Just when Fulham thought they had secured a hard-earned point, heartbreak struck in the final seconds.

Substitute Harrison Reed fouled João Pedro in the box, and the Brighton forward calmly slotted home the resulting penalty for his eighth goal of the season.

The Amex erupted as the Seagulls sealed a crucial 2-1 victory.

Alex Iwobi, who played 89 minutes, now has seven goals and four assists this season, bringing his total goal contributions to 11.

The Nigerian international has been a key figure for Fulham, particularly against Brighton, having scored a brace in their last home encounter.

This result lifts Brighton to sixth in the Premier League table, four points ahead of Fulham, who remain in ninth.

Up next, the Cottagers will host Tottenham, while Brighton travel to face reigning champions Manchester City.
