Akor Adams is the latest Nigerian to score on his Ligue 1 debut!
Le Havre initially took the lead with a goal from Gautier Lloris in the 5th minute, only for Adams to restore parity for Montpellier in the 58th minute with a skillful header from a precise cross by Teji Savanier.
In an astonishing turn of events, Adams secured his double just moments later, by slotting an unstoppable shot into the net after receiving a brilliant through pass from Kiki Kouyate.
Adams exited the match in the 77th minute, making way for the potentially Chelsea-bound striker, Elye Wahi.
Despite Adams’ impactful 60th-minute goal, which came from two of his on-target shots, Montpellier was denied victory as Le Havre’s Samuel Grandsir equalized in the 90th minute.
During the game, Adams did not only show his goal-scoring abilities but also his well-rounded game, contributing defensively by winning two out of four ground duels and all of his aerial duels, alongside making 21 significant touches throughout the match.
Looking ahead, Montpellier’s next challenge is set for August 19 against Lyon at the Groupama Stadium, their opponent’s home turf.
