Nigerian stars enjoyed a remarkable weekend across Europe, with several Super Eagles and Super Falcons stars clinching league titles, while others edged closer to major promotion dreams.
Nigerian stars Zaidu and Moffi Crowned Portuguese Champions
Super Eagles Stars Zaidu Sanusi and Terem Moffi were part of the title-winning squad as FC Porto sealed the Portuguese league crown with a narrow 1-0 home victory over Alverca.
Porto’s dominance this season has been clear. They recorded 27 wins, four draws, and just one defeat, scoring 64 goals while conceding only 15.
With 85 points already on the board and two matches still to play, the title was secured in style.
Sanusi contributed one goal and one assist in 17 league appearances, while Moffi added a goal and an assist in nine outings, playing their roles in a well-balanced squad.
Super Falcons Duo Babajide & Oladipo Win Serie A Women Title
In Italy, Rinsola Babajide and Shukurat Oladipo made history with AS Roma Women, winning the Serie A Femminile title after a 2-0 victory over Ternana.
The triumph marks Roma’s third league title and a memorable first for both Nigerian players in their debut season at the club.
Their contributions across the campaign proved valuable as the team maintained consistency at the top.
Babajide chipped in with two goals and one assist during the season, while Oladipo played her part in a disciplined and successful squad effort.
Elsewhere, Francis Uzoho celebrated league success in Cyprus with AC Omonia following a commanding 3-0 win over Aris Limassol.
Omonia finished the season with 77 points, built on 24 wins, five draws, and three defeats.
They scored 77 goals and conceded just 21, underlining their strong campaign at both ends of the pitch.
Meanwhile, Semi Ajayi helped Hull City secure a spot in the EFL Championship playoffs.
A crucial 2-1 comeback win against Norwich City ensured they finished sixth.
Hull City now stand just a few matches away from a return to the Premier League, a level they have not reached since the 2016–17 season.
Promotion via the playoffs would mark a significant milestone for the club.
