Super Eagles prospect Femi Azeez put in a standout display on Saturday, netting a brace against Oxford United in Millwall’s final Championship outing of the season.
Despite his heroics, Millwall fell short of securing automatic promotion after Ipswich Town cruised to a 3-0 win over Queens Park Rangers, edging them out in the race, Footballrover reports.
Femi Azeez reaches 19 goal contributions but Millwall fall short
The Lions ended the campaign third on 83 points—just one behind Ipswich—and will now shift focus to the playoffs, where they are set to face Hull City, featuring Nigeria international Semi Ajayi, in the semi-finals.
Azeez opened the scoring in the 34th minute, calmly finishing past Jamie Cumming after a well-worked assist from Mihailo Ivanović.
He doubled the lead shortly after the restart, arriving unmarked at the far post before powering home his second goal of the encounter.
The 23-year-old enjoyed a productive 2025–26 season, registering 11 goals and eight assists in 35 league appearances.
The Alex Neil side will now prepare to travel to the MKM Stadium for the first leg on May 8 before hosting the decisive return fixture at The Den on May 11.
Tijani rescues Spartacus with stoppage-time heroics
Nigerian forward Muhamed Tijani delivered another impressive performance on Saturday, scoring a late goal to rescue Nyíregyháza Spartacus FC from defeat as they fought back to earn a draw against MTK Budapest.
The striker rose to the occasion in the Hungarian NB I Round 33 clash, netting a stoppage-time equaliser to help Spartacus recover from a goal down and secure a 1–1 draw at the Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium.
The 25-year-old has now been directly involved in 11 goals in 14 appearances this season, registering eight goals and three assists, and remains the club’s top scorer.
After a tightly contested first half in which both sides failed to find a breakthrough, the hosts took the lead barely eight minutes into the second period of the game.
Hunor Németh combined effectively with Krisztián Németh to put MTK Budapest ahead.
Just when it seemed the hosts would claim all three points, Tijani stepped up and calmly converted from the penalty spot in stoppage time to level the score.
The match finished 1–1, with both sides sharing the spoils.
Following the result, Tijani and his teammates remain in ninth place on the table with 39 points.
